The oil painting depicts an ordinary summer landscape in Latvia. In July, the evenings are especially long and the nights are surprisingly short. And only the moon says that night has come. In this artwork there is a kind of contrast of moods. The lower part with grass and a path is cheerful and playful, promising some kind of joy and comfort. We would like to follow this path, to see more happiness. But the upper part is calmer and sterner - a silent and bright moon, looking at us under a dark cloud. There is some kind of endless mystery and even sadness in this. This makes the artwork special. She evokes different thoughts. The plot is written from nature, from a real landscape. It has a sense of something very romantic, inspiring. It is close to impressionism or expressionism style, with bright colours and warming mood. The artwork is painted pasty, with thick strokes, the texture of the paint is visible. Artwork was created in 2020. Canvas on carton.

Searching for my own path in painting took me a certain time. It has passed nine years since my first attempts to paint. However, during last several years I have started feeling self-assured, as my works reached desired level of skilfulness and artistic approach, and I really started liking them. Currently my love to post-impressionist artists' paintings became especially strong. I am often inspired by the works of Vincent van Gogh, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Edouard Vuillard, Albert Marquet, and Latvian artist Janis Valters. Most of all I value coloristic beauty of their works as well as the artists’ ability to show the weather conditions and the state of the nature with one brush stroke. Now I look into the future with greater confidence, think over new creative plans, and expect fulfilling them!
