About The Artwork

To Talk about the work of Ana Mendez is to talk about the content of magical, symbolic and mythological elements, perceived by the characters in the picture as part of the norm. The existence of magical elements is never explained. It is the presence of the sensory as part of the perception of reality. Ana Mendez works with the notion of time in her work, but this is perceived as cyclical, not linear, as in some philosophical traditions. The artist distorts the notion of time for the present and the past is repeated and intermingle. The simple transformation of the ordinary and every day in an experience that includes supernatural or fantastic experiences, to remind us of the complexity of human nature.
