About The Artwork

This painting is for the exhibition "Arte in Mashera al Carnevale di Venezia". A street Carnival usually held in Venice in February and people wearing masks partying in the streets. I paint the tiger with pink mask to contradict the masculinity and femininity.

Jomay is based in Florence. She is devoted to painting and fascinated by Italian Art. In 2016 she decided to realised her dream of being a professional artist and in Medici Florence, homeland and cradle of the Italian Renaissance, she studied visual arts painting at Florence Classical Art Academy and LABA Firenze where she studied perspective, achieving important pictorial results. In her painting she is strongly influenced by the late 19th century French Impressionism of Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. In her exploration of impressionism she is attracted by the contrasts of light and shadow by the strong and vivid colours that fix the painters' sensations on the canvas. She loves their quick brushstrokes and their preference for painting "en plein air". However, her painting is more in line with Neo-Impressionism in terms of compositional and chromatic order and preparation of work and painting indoors in her studio. Jomay is also very interested in the correlation between color and shape. She prefers vibrant color because it gives her a sense of freshness, joy and brightness and she is strongly convinced that there is a relationship between color and mood that is also subject to external factors as well as our five senses.
