Despite his serious colourblindness, he enjoys using bold colours in his work or soft monotone paintings. His main influences are Henri Matisse, Émile Bernard, Paul Gauguin, Edgar Degas, Paul Henry, and The Scottish Colourists, especially JD Fergusson.
