Tit for tat continues in the exploration of using blue collar methods and means to capture a current vibe. My work is inspired by my grandfather, who was lived in Brockton, Massachusetts, where he was a master shoemaker for Footjoy from the 50's to the 70's. When he retired to Winter Park, Florida in the 70's, he had a small workshop in the back of his home, filled to the brim with all sorts of tools that captured my imagination. He was was the kind of man that built his own home in Avon, Massachusetts with his own hands. He has inspired my work from the beginning. I take pride in making my own structural frames with regular everyday lumber and found wood. I also use common house painters drop cloths as canvas and finish of my pieces with my own decorative framing technique. Most materials that I use are common items and is my by own hands and my grandfather's blue collar spirit. This piece is ready to hang and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

He was a man that could build anything with his hands. I draw upon his spirit as I am working on pieces in my studio garage in the heat and dust. Painting with wood scraps of wood and house paint takes me back to his old wood shop and creates a fully organic process from frame to canvas to paint application. The angled cuts on the scrapers allow for a repetitious motion to scrape and re-apply paint quickly in the same movement, depending on the angle of the stroke. I hope to carry his determined spirit on in my work.” –Eric Guenette Eric Guenette was born in Winter Park, Florida (1967) and grew up in Palm Beach County, Florida area until he moved to Albuquerque in 2009. He is currently residing in Portugal. Guenette has also worked as a professional graphic designer for the last twenty years.
