About The Artwork

This is a painting of my chihuahua from the series 'The World of Tita Petita Chihuahua'. The idea for the painting came when we both dressed up at Halloween. I was the Black Widow and Tita was a Witch Dog. Tita has a way of standing where she raises her front paw. So this is how I positioned her flying the broom. I wrote a poem about our exploits at Halloween called The Brompton Black Widow and Tita her Witch Dog- The Brompton Black Widow though never wed, Had murdered her ex-lover instead. He had betrayed her and oh how he lied- Heartache and hormones led to homicide! She lashed out with the leash and off came his head- It was safe to say the scoundrel was dead. “That will teach him” she philosophically said! As she nailed his skull above her bed, And his bones to her Witch Dog she then fed. Tita the Witch Chihuahua was only small. His bones she was eating from Summer to Fall. At Halloween they had their yearly jaunt, To Brompton Cemetery -it’s a deathly haunt! The Widow brought the skull along in a bag, And her necklace that had begun to sag, From the weight of the bones from her exes. Men she thought were the weaker of the sexes! Her last lover’s murder had not been the first, But as a lover he was definitely the worst! In the graveyard the Witch Dog flew low on her broom, And the Widow wandered from tomb to tomb. Until on a gravestone at last she did sit, Asking her dog “Why were they all Shi fty?” Alternative Sentimental Ending- Tita was a dog and of course couldn’t speak, So rested her face on the Black Widow’s cheek, And gave her a lick as if to say- “You will never lose my love, anyway!”
