About The Artwork

I used existing Google images for this work and copied the mountains in a more exaggerated graphic style from the famous South African artist Pierneef... the 2 male figures are from a photograph of the 'Bittereinders' in captivity around 1900... The baboon and the shopper signifies the tug of war on so many levels of life in South Africa... I was asked whether the Baboon is intended to portray the Black Criminal element in South Africa - the answer is no... this was and is not my intention but I cannot control the various different opinions it may generate... It is merely symbolism of the tendency we have to want, to have... at almost any cost.
