Torre de Belém is an historical important fortified tower in Lisbon. I used tick watercolour paint and very bright colours with small and visible brush strokes. I wanted to contrast the tower from the landscape and emphasise the water movement and dark sky at a top, with seagulls running from a future rainy day. The Discoveries were glorious days for Portugal, now we are waiting for a kind of a Messianic, a lost Sebastian king coming through the fog. The painting is framed, signed and dated.

Portugal
Pedro Couto was born in S.Miguel, an Azores island. When he was less than 5 years old, moved to the portuguese continent, in Amora city, where he currently lives. He used to make simple comic books and learned to draw better from books offered by his parents and a cousin. That would make him win his first comic book contest he has joined in 1997. Although he loves the arts, decided to study Computer Sciences to become a computer programmer. Nevertheless, he learned to paint watercolours after the death of a dear cat in 2005. He also studied from books, videos and self-experience how to draw caricatures.
