About The Artwork

This painting was created from imagination and memory, and depicts a view of the French Broad River in Western North Carolina. I was interested in pursuing a mythical or magical-realist aesthetic with this piece. The French Broad River is actually one of the world's very oldest rivers, and I wanted to represent it with a sense of timelessness and mystery. The piece is framed with a custom hand-finished wooden frame by Hunter Woodworks, created by the master woodworker John Hunter, based in Asheville, NC. The frame is 3" wide on all sides and 7/8" thick. Thanks for viewing, for more artwork visit www.jasonrafferty.com
