About The Artwork

TRY TO EXPLAIN is part of my triptych “Explain”. Painting this triptych was a way of fixing inner turbulence in clear visible forms and dealing with it in a reflective way. This work is painted with oil and acrylic in a glazing technique on canvas. I used the glazing technique to create transparent paint patches and to keep every layer visible, even the pencil drawing and the starting grid. The painting will be shipped in a sturdy, well-protected cardboard box. It is ready to hang and does not require framing. Dimensions: H 90 x W 70 x D 2 cm. For sale individually as well as in combination with the other paintings from the triptych “Explain” (see photos). The whole triptych is for sale with a convenient price.

My work explores the multiple possibilities and the ambiguity in painting. I mix masterfully different painting techniques and materials to create a high-quality “clean dirty” painting, made of tidy patches of color. I love to challenge the limits of painting and to question “good academic practice”. Giving a sense of intentional vagueness, my paintings are open for continuous question, even if they are definite figurative works. Painting is a fluid art form that flows together with the social evolution. Painting is the modernity’s ambiguous eyes. I was born in 1984 near Rome, Italy. 2003 to 2007 I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, department of Painting. In 2008 I graduated and moved to Berlin. 2013 to 2016 I attended the Education Program for Theater Painting at the Berlin Opera Foundation. Currently I live in Berlin and work as a freelance artist and theater painter.
