From the "Impossible Body" series Oil on board The paintings from this series reference the performance-based feats of contorted and awkward postures that one experiences in the daily grind of work and play. Notions of beauty, introspection and reinvention are laid bare alongside my reality (as a multi-tasking mother), which has led to the creation of altered portraits of the body. I pay homage to historical visual Art references via the tradition of collage, which enables me to playfully reflect the language of gesture and expression from a distorted perspective.
