About The Artwork
This is a portrait of a mid-century transgender model. The portrait is done in transparent black oil paint with an opaque blush pink oil background. For almost two decades I have explored gender identity in my work. My interest in the determinants of gender is rooted in feminism and began when I was an undergraduate psychology major.
