About The Artwork

This painting is a part of artist's most recent series named "Through the eyes of a child". The painting is focused on exploring rhythmic repetition with an accent on abstract floral motifs. About the series: I prefer to look at this works as if they were a dream- familiar but still unknown, irrational, and with the thinnest fog that covers them all- like the memories of a child must be. There is a great deal of inspiration in the ways that nature is organized and how it functions. Sometimes, those ways can be highly scenic, which sets the narrative tone for most of these works. I aim to renew my view of nature as I understood it when I was little. My concentration revolves either on small segments that catch my eye or numerous repetitive forms that easily become a large one with an accent on its shape and color.

Milena Ivanovic was born in 1996. in Belgrade, Serbia. During her academic studies, she started to develop increasing interest in landscape. In final year of her master studies her focus shifts to the less noticeable parts of landscape. She analyses these parts and extracts from them the forms and shapes that later help her form a new idealised landscape. She believes that working with children is of great importance because it allows her to preserve an innocent view of the world around her that is crucial in her work process. In addition to painting, she has completed elementary music school and often spends her free time playing flute or guitar. If you are interested in her other works you can find them on her website, or if you simply want to contact her to exchange some thoughts she will be glad to do it via e-mail.
