ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Women presents intense and vibrant colored paintings celebrating the female form and attempts to show images which also integrate the feelings women have about sex. The visual intensity of the female experience of sexual desire and the act of sex are shown as highly original intertwined complex images and symbols. These paintings challenge the viewer with the dichotomy between an uncompromising depiction of the female sexual experience and the celebration of the idealized female form. In contrast, the idealized figures are depicted with traditionally simple lines of a woman’Äôs body embracing the humanity, beauty, and love that come with it. As one views the two groups of paintings, they present a dialogue between sex and the psyche and men's response to sexual stimuli and, they enable the viewer to have an unspoken visceral response.
