About The Artwork

"A mysterious man standing in front of a coffee shop in Lima downtown" is part of CAPITAL: a project that shows the transformation of Lima downtown into an open-air showcase. The series expresses cumulative layers of information through the glass reflection where a simultaneity of urban realities happens. In 1988, UNESCO declared Lima’s historic center as a World Heritage Site.. I took this picture on a sunny afternoon at Pasaje Acuña, few blocks far from Lima's main square. I composed the scene putting in value the reflections on a coffee shop window. Suddenly a man appeared and kept standing while some lettering reflected on him. This photograph will take part at the international exhibition LANGUAGE curated by LoosenArt in Rome (Italy), from 14th to 24th May 2021.

Romulo is a French-Peruvian photographer based in Norway. Nature, urban life, and live music are among the topics that inspire him the most. He's always been amazed by the beauty of nature and cultural heritage. In that sense, he got involved in photography while documenting ecotourism experiences in Peru during 2006. After working for more than a decade as a sustainable development consultant, he decided to return to school and study photography as a new creative career. He would discover there influential artists such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Ernst Hass, and Saul Leiter. They still have a significant impact on his aesthetics. For his awarded project Gausta in Seasons, he spent almost ten months (from December 2019 to September 2020) exploring this world-class mountain Norwegian destination. Nowadays, he´s working on other visual projects in Vestland county.
