This is number one of the Accidental Collage Series on Lagos walls. Lagos is home to about 22 million people and arguably one of Nigeria’s most influential urban space since colonial rule till date. Effect of such high level migration for commercial advantage is very evident in how stretched to the limits infrastructures and amenities in the city are. Housing being one of them. A city of such dynamism no doubt also provides inexhaustible inspiration for visual arts and design oriented artistic theories. Visually striking walls become collages due to peeled out wall paints, posters and banners of different messages ranging from politics, religion and even health supplements and job scams, exposed to the elements. New ones overlap on old ones and the repeated pile on a surface becomes very rich in textures, colors and forms taking on new meanings as they become contemporary artwork of envy in their own right archiving and telling stories of the lives of people that live there presently, past and of course changing as new tenants take over.

Logor Oluwamuyiwa is a photographer born at the start of the 90's in the city of his fascination, Lagos. As an astute observer, Lagos gives him more than enough to enrich a portfolio. Logor’s interest in visual arts is to be a shrewd observer of the human carnival by capturing and retelling stories from perspectives that are often overlooked, ignored and taken for granted. He engages his eyes and equipment to show shapes, forms and edifices that heighten the senses and tell a story of their own. Logor’s works revolve around conceptual and documentary style photography. He weaves through visual and digital means to chronicle the eccentricities and beauty of Lagos city in an undiluted manner. He is convinced of the use of digital media to deliver an optimistic and valuable manner to pave the way for a new dialogue and knowledge acquisition. As expected, he lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a member of the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Video Art Network both in Lagos. Features: Al Jazeera News, Esquire Magazine, Okay Africa, Financial Times, Surface Magazine, Frieze/Deustche Bank Anthology, Open City (Henrich Boll Foundation and Insibidi Institute), Hunger Magazine, CultureTrip.
