On my meditation walks I am always delighted when I find the Rose of Sharon in bloom. I am always picking up the fallen flowers and collecting them. I wanted to create an image that evokes the movement and passage of time on my morning walks. The Dance of Rose of Sharon invites the whimsy of spring in any interior space.

Mitch Eckert is an award-winning artist and educator based in Louisville Kentucky where he teaches all things photographic at the University of Louisville. His passion for photography began early in his artistic career aided by a bb gun accident that left him blind in one eye as a youngster. Prior to receiving his M.F.A. from Ohio University, he completed his B.F.A. from Indiana University studying photography and sculpture. The choice of photographic equipment, process and materials needs to have a good marriage with concept and content. Eckert utilizes film when a specific need lends itself as the ideal solution conceptually.
