About The Artwork

Death of Alice is a six photograph visual story examining the concept of one's own death. It looks at the aspects of what we leave behind, the journey in accepting our own death, and the acceptance of the inevitable. Death of Alice V shows the journey from one world into the next. From Alice's perspective, her memories of friends accompany her, offering emotional support into the unknown. The photograph is printed by the artist on archival cotton rag paper using pigment ink, and is sprayed with archival UV protective spray. Print size is 17"x22" leaving a white border to work with for mounting and framing purposes.

Radina Droumeva is a conceptual photography-based artist living and creating in the small community of Ladner, BC, Canada. She finds endless inspiration in the peace and solitude of her natural surroundings. Radina's work explores physical and psychological relationships in her environment through surrealism of still life objects. Her scientific background as a bioinformatician allows Radina to combine biological and mathematical research techniques with digital processing. Radina's main approach to creating involves the use of iterative stages - photographs of individual objects or scenery are guided through a cyclical process, coaxing subconscious ideas to life.
