About The Artwork

A blindfolded girl wonders precariously from a maze. I was first inspired by David La Chapelle, but the only image from the series that really reflects his work is 'The Girl And A Ladder'. I like to keep the viewer curious with out giving too much away so that they interpret the work from their own perspective. The image is shot on transparency film and cross processed. I wanted the image to be colorfully as I was experimenting at the time. From the series, FREE RANGE. A fashion editorial shoot for Oyster Magazine Issue 24, Winter Freezes 1999. Shot on location at Harvey’s Farm , Harvey’s Farm, West Sussex, UK. This is my first ever published fashion editorial called free range. It was my first collaboration with the Fashion Editor Navaz Batliwalla and Make Up Artist Jemma Kid. And it was the first editorial job booked by Duncan Ord at Booking’s Models. I sent it to Oyster Magazine, Australia and didn’t know what to expect. They called it Free Range as the chickens appeared to be unrestricted, free and healthy. The paradigm of the story was to look at human’s intervention with chickens and how we farm them and interact with them for our existence. Please visit my website michaelbrosnan.com for other images that are part of the story. Style – GHOST organza pintuck dress; LIBERTY blue velvet ribbon; MAOLO BLAHNIK for OZBEK leather turkish slippers

Boy to Man Australian-born (1965) Artist / Photographer, Michael Brosnan has learned from some of the Fashion and Portraiture Best Photographers in the world, including Kazuhiro Kobayashi, Tokyo (1991-1992) and Greg Gorman, LA (1992). With his priceless experience assisting on shoots, and his desire to follow in the footsteps of his favorite photographers Herb Ritts and Richard Avedon, he voyaged off to France to spend the next 3 years walking the streets of the world’s most romantic city. After shooting the new faces of Paris’s most prestigious Model Agencies, Brosnan was encouraged by the Agents to continue his passion and move forward. After Paris, he arrived in London (1998) and repeated his rhythm of shooting for National and international editorials. On holidays Brosnan would travel to Australia, Spain, and Mykonos and there his creativity would be inspired by the environment and the people that he met. Watching the light and its reaction to form, Brosnan could see how the Masters of Art used their imagination to play with the environment. He could visualize a world that no one else could see and create ideas that would develop from a dream. A graduate of Central Saint Martin’s (2009) in Graphic Design and Art Direction and now an accomplished practitioner of digital image making as an art form, Brosnan has reinvested into his passion and enjoys both Multimedia Design and Photography.
