About The Artwork

Free the nipple is a campaign taking place in the UK for women to be free to go topless in the same sense that men do when it's hot. I have absolutely no objection to this and felt that maybe i could support it in some way and try to raise awareness, i mean why is it seen as disgusting for women to get their boobs out in public. This photograph depicts a topless lady in Southwark, London outside the Tate Modern gallery. The colours i have used i feel demonstrate a war like feel as is the cause, the texture added in photoshop is to give a feel of restraint. The overall moral for this photograph is equality, the human body is beautiful in whatever form it takes, as a artist you appreciate the colour tones and the way the light reacts to skin.

I gained my interest in the art of photography when i was 18, that is when i got my first Minolta film camera. At around the age of 25 I served a apprenticeship with a local wedding photographer and worked alone for about a year before they wound things up for retirement. I then went into a baron state of 20 years not really doing any photography whilst raising a family. In 2015 my wife bought me a digital camera and that got things moving again although digital is a completely different beast to what i had been doing, fortunately or unfortunately i suppose it can be seen either way i got graves disease 3 years ago, being a self employed taxi driver at the time it played havoc with my ability to work as i was used to, on the plus side it gave me the opportunity to learn my camera and lightroom, etc. I am now slowly in the process of recovering from treatment from my Graves disease and quite knowledgeable with regards digital photography. I have been selling my work for a year now and hopefully that will continue. I have taken the decision to limit my artwork based on the largest size available only.
