Light in the Loafers - Limited Edition of 30 Print

This work is part of series offices that grew out of an effort to explore the reclamation of gay slurs. This work is also inspired by the work Jenny Holzer and Barbara Kruger, but in this work,I want colorful and pleasant images to counterbalance the text in a more campy way. This work is also inspired by memes in the popular culture. I was interested in using text with images in a size and format suitable for framing and wall display. As an older gay artist, Ive been frustratedly how so much of what gets terms queer art, relies on classical ideas of youth and beauty, and especially focuses on white twinky bodies. A queer experience contains so much more.This work is part of my explorations to find expression of many of those other dimensions.
