Niqui Carter is a Brooklyn based photographer, originally trained as a fine art painter at the University of Minnesota. Later she turned to photography and studied at Parson's Paris. "When I'm in my own space, is when I see things." Niqui is inspired by shapes and shadows either outside or in interior spaces. The ambulatory nature of her photos began to express a restlessness, a curiosity of textural symmetry, and an intent to capture the ephemeral. What's ultimately depicted is that creative sanctuary does not have to be in a darkroom or a studio. It can be a process, not just a place.
