About The Artwork
Mist in the masts is a piece about that certain stillness one experiences when the clouds hang in the still air and are so low and wet that muffled sound reaches your ear as though it has travelled through a dream. Where sight and sound morph to create an eerie surreal feeling where time has ceased to move and there is only the moment of now. So was the atmosphere when the family was trying to stay dry at a BBQ meal on the shore of Clareville beach in the lovely waters of Pittwater Sydney. It took me a while to work out how to capture this atmosphere, but in juggling the aperture at f9, iso as low as possible, and a 15 second shutter I was finally able to get something that resembled the moment.
