About The Artwork

Nine Days in the Sun: A sequence of 9 solar images taken from my back garden, on consecutive days and montaged into a composite picture. This picture shows the progression and shifting of the sunspots as the sun rotated during nine consecutive days of clear skies in the UK summer. The colour overlay tiles have been used to highlight the fact that the sun is a broad band source radiating over many wavelengths of light and not yellow as is commonly supposed. A mesmerizing montage of nine consecutive images showcases the sun's migration of sunspots and a vibrant array of colours, illustrating its ability to emit light across the entire spectrum. From fiery reds to golden yellows and cool blues, the evolving sunspots create a captivating visual story, highlighting the dynamic nature of our celestial powerhouse and its remarkable influence on our world. I help bring interest to interior spaces through creative and dramatic fine art pictures. I have been a creator all my life from a childhood with construction toys and later as a professional engineer. Having been gifted my first camera in 1969, I have maintained an interest in photography since then, studying the subject more seriously in recent years. I specialise in capturing ordinary subjects and making them extra ordinary using closeups, lighting, colour or editing to help create mood, inspiration, or interesting talking points. I have a passion for taking time to notice the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the depths of space to the small creatures sharing our lives. In my work I try to encourage the viewer to see the ‘everyday’ in a new light by emphasising the extraordinary nature of its complexity or including it an arrangement to suggest an idea or a concept.
