VIEW IN MY ROOM
The Himalayas are a mountain range in Asia that stretches for over 1,500 miles across several countries, including India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. They are the highest mountain range in the world, with Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, located in the Himalayas. Yaks are large, shaggy-haired mammals that are native to the Himalayan region. They are well adapted to living in high altitudes and harsh mountainous environments, with their thick coats providing insulation against the cold and their large hooves providing traction on rough terrain. Yaks have been an important part of life for many Himalayan people for centuries. They are used for transportation of goods and people, as well as for their meat, milk, and wool. In some cultures, yaks are also considered to be sacred animals and are used in religious ceremonies. The relationship between the Himalayan people and yaks is a symbiotic one, with each relying on the other for survival. The people depend on yaks for their livelihood, while the yaks depend on the people for food and care. However, the yak population in the Himalayas is currently facing threats from climate change, overgrazing, and habitat loss. Efforts are being made to protect and conserve these animals, as they play an important role in maintaining the delicate ecosystem of the Himalayas. © 2022 Hwan Kim . All rights reserved. Photography is a holy and humble record of history and humanity. If it is not recorded, no one will remember it. And if there is no record, they make an argument for each other's imagination. For a long time, I have been shooting with a focus on humans and rituals. Due to the development of modernization and civilization around the world, the native culture originally brought by humans is rapidly disappearing. The filming approach is attempted with ethnographic images. I am researching and filming the rituals, folklore, festivals and religious secrets of Korea, Japan, Nepal, Indonesia, Bali, Ladakh, and North India
