About The Artwork
Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz, California is named for the naturally occurring mudstone bridges that were carved by the Pacific Ocean into cliffs that jutted out into the sea. As I stood on the lone beach with just the echoing of the Seagulls, Brown Pelicans and Black Cormorants, the visible layers of mudstone show the years and years of natural erosion revealing the story of time past, the battle against the relentless natural elements and ultimately survival. I watch and am quietly amazed of how truly short life is for us here on this planet. We are a mere fleeting moment by comparison. The mudstone, eroded as it may be, still stands.
