About The Artwork
This photo was taken of the oculus of the ancient Pantheon in Rome. What caught my eye was the way the light entered the space- which is the entire concept behind the architecture in the first place- and how it disrupts the perfect geometry of circles and squares. By underexposing the photo to bring out the intensity of the light the photograph captures concentric implied rings of the man-made oculus that reach for, but never complete the circle, juxtaposed with the natural sky which is a perfect and pure circle.
