I transformed my original photograph of this view in the Timanfaya National Park on Lanzarote, in the Canary islands. After working on many different versions, I have selected this one as I am really attracted to the weird colours, shapes and textures. I find the image visually striking and hope that viewers will feel the same. There is an element of surrealism, a strange otherworldliness in my version. Indeed it could represent a view on an alien planet. The image is printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta Satin, a 300 gsm archival photographic paper of outstanding quality and longevity. Each Print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, dated and signed by the artist, Jeff Laurents For wall hanging, the print can be window mounted and framed or mounted on robust fibre board, according to the buyer's preference

I studied for my degree in photography at the Polytechnic of Central London and also lectured in Cinema for the British Film Institute. I have specialised in digital image making for many years. My art is mostly abstract images or landscape photographs which I have transformed digitally to resemble paintings rather than straight photographs. I also create cityscapes, images of iconic local scenes which I sell to art galleries and retail outlets in my area. My approach is experimental, and when working on my images I will reject a version that doesn't appeal to my sensibilities, and I will continue to work on an image until I'm happy with the result. Some of the titles of my artwork are deliberately tongue in cheek, as in my images 'A Grave Situation' and 'One of The Beetles', or ironic as in 'Global Warming'. I try to create images that appeal to the viewer's feel for shape, colour and texture and sense of composition, or for strong graphic monochromes, so my work is motivated by aesthetics.
