My noir "Curiosities" series (which includes a self-published book of the same name) was developed as a means to heal after the decade long battle to help care for my parents before their eventual deaths due to longterm illness. I wanted to capture the spirit of life after experiencing the long road to death; to selfishly steal the energy of my subjects, in order to defeat the psychological numbing of my mother's and father's passing. During my time caring for them, each day I might have 15 minutes to myself with which I chose to clear my head. Photography became my muse. My hope is that viewers feel a sense of calm, introspection, darkness and humor in my work. I'm a great fan of William Klein, Sylvia Plachy, Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, Weegee, and Garry Winogrand. It is my hope that one might see some vague connection to these fine photographers. I enjoy documentary verite' image capturing and using vintage Leica manual focus, rangefinder lenses.
