José Nieto Velázquez - Las Meninas Print

This is "José Nieto Velázquez" that composes the painting of Las Meninas by Velázquez and my interpretation is the following: He was the queen's chamberlain, at the same time as the artist was the king's. In the canvas, he is situated in the background, in the frame of an open door through which the outdoor light streams in. I imagine him being discreet, controlling, with a vigilant attitude and possessing a lot of influence in the court. In my interpretation, I have liberated him of his dark appearance in order to highlight his power and energy, like a fearless bull, that keeps his powers unexposed and uses them with prudence and discretion.
