The peregrine falcon is the fighter jet of the avian world. Sleek and fast, this sculpture takes advantage of the animal's beautiful clean lines. The moment that is captured is just preceding a hunting behavior falconer's call 'the stoop'. The bird's body is positioned at the beginning of the rolling maneuver just prior to that 200+ mph dive to intercept it's prey. The metal has been treated with a black patina that was then polished to make the surface detail really stand out.

I'm a sculptor and metalworker producing artwork inspired by the spectacular wildlife in the Southwestern desert. I believe art must not be static for it to connect. It has to feel kinetic, jarring, moving. I try to mix the physical and anatomical aspects of the animals I sculpt with the way they move or behave in nature. I love nice clean lines mixed with the rough, volcanic process of forging and working steel. All of the hours I put into a piece is documented on it's surface. I'm forever chasing the 'wow' factor with the pieces I produce.
