About The Artwork
Klimpt was on my mind as I drew this woman, to be placed, isolated and at peace, physically held in an chamber within this work. She is excluded within her walls, where colours are bright: the viewer is outside, where life is much duller! This work is lit internally (it's connected to a conventional USB power lead). The woman is drawn in bronze, kiln-cast into the windows glass using techniques developed centuries ago for cathedral windows: she'll be with us for centuries too. The wall is constructed from newsprint, stuccoed with stone and metal oxides.
