About The Artwork

This artwork made with mixed media (paraffin, wood, nails, thread). The artwork consists of two separeted parts (the soap with the nails and the soap dish made by wood). It was on display at the exhibition called 'In memoriam Joseph Beuys' (organised by Contemporary Art Gallery, Tatabánya, Hungary, 2021). The artwork reflects on the story of the Bible when Pilate washed his hands before the people, saying “I am not responsible for His blood. It is your doing.” The artwork reflects on the feeling of conscience (you can try to wash your hands with the soap but you will injure yourself). Besides, the title reflects to the artwork itself, because the "soap" made with paraffin so it is not a soap in fact.

The basic feature of my work is constructivity, the arrangement of simple yet expressive forms. Within the field of abstraction, I am primarily interested in the problems of symmetry and asymmetry, and the stricter, thought-out, geometric shapes. However, in some cases I fill these geometrically delineated shapes or the space surrounding them with a looser, more dissolved brushwork. Following the principle of simplicity, I use elements such as the quadrangle or the triangle. I use little-color, in wich non-colors (black and white) appears as well, creating a special contrast.
