About Hlynur Helgason

I am a visual artist who lives and works in Reykjavík, Iceland. My works include paintings, photography, and video installation. My works are to a large degree based on a systematic or procedural way of working, painting using predefined structural premises or photographing locations that I feel capture the essence of an urban location in a systematic manner.

Education

2011 PhD in Media Philosophy from the European Graduate School.
1994 MFA in fine art from Goldsmith’s College, University of London.
1986 Degree in Painting from the Icelandic Art and Handicraft School in Reykjavík.
