About Tessa Maagdenberg

Since 2011 I have been working as a professional visual artist in my own studio in Scheveningen, The Hague. My preferred material to work on is wallpaper. I make bold strokes on the paper with Chinese ink and acrylic paints. I investigate how my mark making and the existing patterns can melt into my very own authentic paintings. The process of the mark making, the eliminating of parts of the pattern and the letting them resurface again is fascinating to me and the end result should challenge the eyes and the mind. Making art is as essential to me as breathing is. I am very proud that my art is now in private collections in the USA, UK, Netherlands, Germany. I hope you like it too!

I have lived abroad for 17 years in different countries, Vietnam, Cyprus, Japan and Turkey. In all these countries I have learned from local artists and institutions. After moving back to the Netherlands and with 4 kids in school, I attended Art School and graduated in 2011. Since then I have been a working artist and exhibiting nationally and internationally.
