ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This Zen Chicken drawing is inspired by a disappointing session in the Unity real-time engine software. I was working on a game project and decided to start over. I spent 2 hours selecting the wrong technical path to achieve my begin-again goal. I took a break from my frustration and made this Zen Chicken including several quotes about being stuck in a creative problem. I then practiced tai chi. I returned to my Unity task, watched the right instructional video, and successfully accomplished my Unity goal. I hope this Zen Chicken inspires you to relax and return to a challenge with a renewed creative spirit. -- India Ink, acrylic ink, and Prismacolor line marker ink on 120 lb. Honoria Starbuck (Miami, Florida) grew up on Key Biscayne. She studied art and art history at the University of Texas and holds an interdisciplinary PhD in Fine Arts, Communications, and Education. Honoria is influenced by art history stretching back to cave art. Her moving meditation art relates to her 14-year practice of tai chi. Honoria has decades of diverse experiences as a Mail Artist in the international Correspondence Art Network through which her work has been exhibited in over 800 exhibitions. Honoria has also worked in Internet art creating the first Internet opera (1995) which was recognized by the Global Bangemann Challenge for innovation. Honoria’s theme is flow. Flow connects the molecules of pigment into patterns on the paper and intellectual themes flow from one individual artwork into the next. Honoria is a professor in the Art and Entertainment Technology Department in the College of Fine Art at The University of Texas at Austin.
