In this painting the famous four horses of the quadrille of San Marco in Venice are represented. The 4 horses painted by Trevisan are manifested in their magnificence and glory, the exaltation of the horse. Trevisan is of Venetian origin (in 1553 Trevisan Marcantonio was doge of Venice) and with this painting he pays homage to his hometown of his family. The painting is supplied with a wooden frame and is ready to hang. The sculptural group of the Horses of San Marco consists of four bronze alloy horse statues, originally belonging to a triumphant quadriga located at the Hippodrome of Constantinople, now visible in the Basilica of San Marco in Venice, in which they were translated from beginning of the thirteenth century following the sacking of the city by the crusaders. In 1797, Napoleon Bonaparte removed the horses and brought them to Paris as the object of the French spolings of the Republic of Venice during the Napoleonic occupation, where he used them to draw his quadriga for the Triumphal Arch of the Carrousel. In 1815 the horses returned to Venice thanks to Captain Dumaresq, commissioned by the Emperor of Austria to take the four horses from the Parisian Arc de Triomphe and lead them to San Marco in Venice.

Invited since the opening of Saatchi's online sales site, Trevisan has been present in Saatchiart for 14 years. Trevisan is a italian painter with international activity who has been exhibiting in art galleries around the world for many years (from Usa to Europe, China, Hong Kong, Qatar, Brasil, Mexico) and currently (October 2024) exhibiting his paintings in Italy - France - Bruxelles - Boston - Philadelphia. His painting seeks the beauty and harmony of the subjects in a lively and classic chromatism. Positivity that is found in his personal lyrical and dreamlike surrealism. Trevisan's art is surreal, colorful, ironic, positive. His life paintings alternate at times colorful and lively, at times darker and more poetic. Color and positivity, love and poetry immediately accompany the artistic creations by developing a personal technique representative of a surreal vision of life. Trevisan creates with proportion of subjects and objects, treating everything as a scenic composition in which everything finds balance and harmony. Subjects and objects are the protagonists of each painting that give the viewer a positive and serene atmosphere, a constructive irony that helps in everyday life. His paintings are windows of dreams into reality and poetry that help us face life with a smile and a lesson in inner positivity every day. Collectors from all over the world appreciate his work which remains universal and timeless. Works of art to be collected that already in the present repay the collector with values of positivity and harmony. Pieces of art that will remain in the future of Trevisan's art history.
