ABOUT THE ARTWORK

'The Pearl' oil on linen 46 x 46 cm 2023 This painting is named after John Steinbeck’s ‘The Pearl’. The story begins in La Paz, with Kino, a Mexican diver who finds a miraculous pearl unlike any other. The discovery holds the promise of wealth and opportunity, that is quickly tainted by jealousy, greed and violence. The parable highlights the insatiable nature of human desires, reminding us of the universal struggle for the never-ending pursuit of material wealth.
