ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The work “mountain flow #1” consists of over 11 different types of wood: Maple, lime, larch, walnut, swiss pine, oak, beech, elm, cherry, apple, mahogany During the gluing process, Manfred arranged the strips and veneers of different thicknesses in such a way that they taper irregularly at the bottom and create a flowing dynamic. The mountain silhouettes were subsequently sawn out and sanded. With this work, the artist wants to illustrate that not only humans, but also nature is subject to constant change. Just as the water in the stream is always in motion, so all things, living beings and phenomena in the world are always changing. Everything changes and evolves, nothing stays the same. Since it is a wall object, two screws including dowels are included for easy installation. The surface is completely natural.

CREATIVE PROCESS AND INSPIRATION Manfred Hellweger questions the meaning and value of existence, the world and humanity. His distinctive sculptures are mainly made of wood, metal and stone. Hellweger uses simple shapes such as cubes, strips, boards, nails or shaped tubes. Using a variety of techniques, the individual parts are connected to create mostly figurative works that taper towards the base. Through this process, Manfred Hellweger's sculptures evoke a sense of vertical dissolution, symbolizing the perpetual change of our time. Everything changes and develops, nothing remains the same. Each piece embodies Hellweger's credo, “less of everything rather than more”, reflecting a philosophy of simplicity and contentment that extends beyond art.
