The name of this series, Obosom, was quoted in one of the essays by writer Robert Graves, in which he mentioned: "Obosom was a visible manifestation of the Kra or life force derived from the moon and enjoyed a limited part of the power of the moon goddess." Under the name of Obosom some African tribes named certain deities of the natural world associated with the moon, which could be extrapolated to Western culture through virgins, which in many cases have been fused with pre-Christian beliefs linked to landscapes, lakes, rivers, mountains or natural landscapes. events. The Obosom series attempts to condense the magnetism of religious iconographic representations, both primitive, in the sense of tribal art, and Christian, under minimalist forms in which the volume is contingent on the purity of the form and framed by clearly defined lines. The sculptures reflect a female anthropomorphic component, focusing on her role of spiritual and virginal purity, turning round and pure forms that evoke the creative or life-giving component. Ultimately, this series aims to restore the "magical" aspect that gave rise to primitive sculpture and remained for millennia, sculpture as an element evoking natural forces and as a collective subconscious condenser through universal principles.

He is one of the most remarkable emerging sculptor of the new artistic scene in Spain, he has done more than 60 expos, exhibited in Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland, and won several prizes. His metallic work wanders about the idea of the sacred. He gets the inspirations from classic forms that he puts together with modernity through a simplification exercise. One can sense the influence of great contemporary sculptors such as Noguchi, Chillida, Julio González or Richard Serra. Canduela’s work, in metallic welded sheets, is an outstanding pledge on the sculptural quality, on the well-done job and on the attention of the details. The goal of his work is to condense and summarize, through abstraction, the human subconscious. He takes as an essential example the interaction between the artist and his work. The sculptures arouse a singular attraction as well as a self-presence that is almost magnetic. Roberto Canduela’s career is moving upwards. Some of his sculptures are part of private collections; some has been used as Public Work in Spain for different companies and organizations.
