About Mark Humphrey

Born in Old Harlow,Essex, Mark initially studied Business Law in London and went on to work with businesses such as BT, Phillips and Orange plc.
Whilst Head of PR and Marketing Communications at Orange, he personally developed many Artistic initiatives including Cirque du Soleil and the Orange Prize for Fiction. He started carving stone in 1996.

Mark first learnt to carve stone on the Mediterranean island of Gozo.Captivated by the island's rich Neolithic history he was spurred on to study sculpting techniques at the University of Hertfordshire. Carving by day and studying at night, Mark immersed himself in his stone carving.He is inspired by facets of human emotions,natural forms and landscapes and continues to experiment with both shape and form. Although primarily a stone carver, he also produces limited edition sculptures in Bronze and composite resins.
Working from his studio in North Hertfordshire, his sculptures can be found in private collections and gardens throughout the UK and in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Switzerland and the USA.

Education

Mark studied Business Law at Moorgate School of Business Studies,London.
He studied Sculpting Techniques at the University of Hertfordshire under Henry Tebbett.
Marks' sculptures have been selected for the Royal Society of British Artists'Annual Exhibitions and The National Society on many occassions. He is an elected Associate of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and an Honorary Member of the Fine Art Association, Gibraltar.
Mark is also a member of Hertfordshire Visual Arts Forum and Surrey Sculpture Society.

Future Shows: Mark exhibits widely with Galleries and in group shows both in the UK and Internationally.
His next exhibition is "Modern Romantics - Landscape Fusion" a group show of Fused Glass, Paintings and Sculpture at The Air Gallery, 32 Dover Street, London W1S 4NE.The exhibition runs from 22nd - 27th September 10am - 6pm (Sat 10am - 2pm).
