Boatyard (ABSTRACT)

The BOATYARD project began in 2014 and is ongoing. Images are “found" art. Photographs were taken at boatyards, dry-docks and shorelines - documenting vessels such as Yachts, Catamarans, Rowing Boats, Lifeboats & Trawlers. The images mainly depict boat hulls below the waterline, where layers of paint mix with oxidation and other elements. Some are above the waterline and include features such as propellers. The artworks are often abstract, vibrant and decorative. For authenticity, the original texture of the painted surface, fibreglass, barnacles or metal has been left intact where possible. Original colours are also retained where possible and adjustments are made only for contrast, brightness and clarity where needed.
