CUBA. Images from my homeland

I was really taken by the peace the Cuban people had in spite of their lack of personal freedom and resources. They make the best of what they have. The limited-edition prints are produced from photographs taken on a mission trip to Cuba in 2003. I manipulated the Hi-Res photos to make them appear dated. I added a dot halftone reminiscent of the work in the 60’s. When Cuba lost its’ freedom and continues to live in a “Twilight Zone” state. Each print highlights the one thing that sets them apart from our American “comforts” that we take for granted. The oil paintings are richly textured using melted wax on the canvas before I painted with oil paint.
