Mediterranean landscapes

The light of the Valencian and Catalan coastal regions is famous and for a painter is irresistible. I have spent many years wandering through the countryside here: through the pine forests, along the sun- soaked beaches and in the wild mountains with their dramatic rock-formations. I have watched the changing colours of the shadows and delighted in the stark contrasts between shadow and light on brilliant spring and summer days. This light has found its ways into a lot of my work… despite being a boy from the British black country!
