Patchwork Paper (23" x 30")

Each painting in this series is a compilation of a variety of cut and torn painted and textured papers pieced together in a patchwork pattern. In retrospect this body of work was about quilts because of the metaphor of safety and warmth they provide. During a time of personal upheaval, making these paintings created a sense of comfort in the methodical puzzle-like methodology of their creation. They also serve as a reminder of the quilts my grandmother Betty used to make for me as a child. These paintings were created in Santa Barbara, California, USA. Two of the originals are in the collection of the Beach Cities Health District, Redondo Beach, CA, USA.
