Screenprints

My screenprint collages reimagine illustrations from the early to mid-twentieth century and expands upon or operates completely outside the social and artistic context from which they originally sprang. Boys are perhaps caught in feminine moments or autonomy is given to the young girls. Whatever the new narrative is I want to approach both the subject and its surroundings with humor, playfulness and allow them to exist with innocence and away from preexisting social conditions like blue is for boys and pink is for girls. The artworks are also strongly grounded in art theory fundamentals. Artistically, the artworks explore the use of positive and negative space, composition as it relates to color theory.
