Celebrity Influence and Worship in the 21st Century

Inspired by Warhol's own 'Cult of Celebrity', my works re-examine its meaning in the context of the 21st Century. Celebrities are often looked at with god-like reverence, in spite of their scandals. With technology of the 21st Century, their impeding presence on public lives has never been more overwhelming, from reality shows to posters in our homes to appearing on our social media feeds. This idea of mass media coverage and public obsession is explored by collaging famed images of Celebrities with symbols of Christian iconography in grand sizes.
