Circuits and Circuit Figures
As a strong visual signifier of his thematic focus of technology, the aesthetic of circuitry patterns have been central to Mitchell Van Duzer's artwork throughout much of his practice. Early on, it began primarily as an attraction to circuits as abstract patterns, and the artist experimenting with them less for their representative qualities and more for their design. Over time, however, this focus would shift once more, and result in his "Circuit Figure" paintings-- works depicting faceless humanoid figures covered in circuitry patterns, and largely exploring the morality and social ramifications of modern technology.
