CONCEPTUAL ICONS

Although the icons in this collection look provocative and funny, it has carefully thought out and compiled, made for the modern Man and about the modern God. Their composition inherits at once several iconographic and folk traditions of the past - from Byzantine iconography to medieval popular print, and the message embodied in it is clear and serious. It explores how the ineradicable human need for faith has been transformed by our hi-tech times and, in this sense the artist's work is driven by a genuine religious quest. The personal Jesus (Jesus for myself) - is the current pop cultural Christ, who looks more like a young and sexy teenager from early Christian mosaics. And this image is not the only one in the consumer's Pantheon.
