Political Cut Paper

In 2009 I began a series of tissue paper cut outs inspired by Mexican Day of the Dead papel picado banners. I envision the banners as an ongoing series commenting on social political issues of the day and making a contribution to the historical record. My work draws inspiration from the Mexican artists Rivera, Orozco, Siquieros and Posada as well as the contemporary artists Bansky, Sigmar Polke and Shepard Fairey.
